Although it has plenty of hotels, Corby isn’t really your typical vacation destination. Chances are you’re in town on business, visiting family or otherwise, maybe just passing through the Northmidlands on a jaunt somewhere else and need a respite from the road for a while. Any of these reasons can be pretty tiring so it’s no surprise that at the end of the day you might just want to grab some takeaway and eat it in the comfort of your hotel. Interestingly enough, perhaps, Corby has two very tasty Indian takeway restaurants in town.
Cardamom Indian Takeaway in Corby offers exceptional Indian and Nepalese food with an award-winning takeaway service. In 2011 the restaurant won the prestigious East Midlands Takeaway of the Year Award much to the dismay of the nearby establishment and lifelong rival, Ali’s Indian Restaurant.
Ali’s Indian Restaurant has been feuding with Cardamom for years over stolen recipes, interbreeding by employees, hijacked goods, turncoats, price wars, wage wars, sanitation levels and fastest delivery times in the Northlands. They both offer great value and great service and the food at both places is above par, but the award can only go to one. Ali’s, on Pytchley Court in Corby offers exclusive fine Indian cuisine for takeaway or you can dine-in at their ambient and elaborately decorated restaurant. They definitely have fantastic service, fair prices and are know locally for their friendliness. They also serve a mean white wine spritzer served in a highball glass with a dash of curry powder on the rim which, if you snort the curry and pound the spritzer, is an amazing cocktail.
Quick protip: while there may be ample dining options in the area hotels, Kettering isn’t that far away from either of these quick and easy Indian spots; so why not try ’em both and see for yourself what all the fuss is about.
